Thoroughly modern Osprey to make Dinghy Show debut

by Alan Henderson, Osprey Class Association 3 Mar 2016 07:53 GMT Stand A4, 5-6 March 2016

Are you a Thoroughly Modern Millie, or an admirer of the warmth and character of wood? Either way, you will thoroughly enjoy visiting the Osprey class stand at this weekend's RYA Suzuki Dinghy Show.

Millies will be delighted to view the new Mark 5 Osprey, the first time an Osprey has been made in epoxy. So new that the Osprey team are still screwing on all the fittings, so no pictures of the complete boat are available. One Mark 5 will be on the Osprey class stand, and a second example on the stand of sole Osprey builder, Hartley Boats.

But wood lovers will see one of the prettiest examples of a wooden Osprey, that owned by Mick Taylor, pictured, which will also be on the stand.

The Osprey class is set for another jump in participation with record sales of the new Mark 5 providing the class with a major fillip, as the class prepares to embark on this year's exciting fixture list of major championships, national travellers, and regional travellers in Wales and the North. Not forgetting the class's exciting programme of free coaching days for association members, with three dates announced so far, and covering all the country from North of England, Wales and the South coast. Free coaching is not just for the many new entrants to the class who are buying Mark 5s, but also for those already in the class, whether they are beginners or experienced open meeting sailors.

Whether you are an admirer of wood, or a Thoroughly Modern Millie, make sure you visit the Osprey class stand in the Great Hall at Stand A4, near P&B, and prepare to be entranced.

See you at the Show!
