Although there's no room for the Albacore Class Association stand at this year's show there will be an Albacore dinghy on the Ovington Boats stand (C76 Main Hall) and, like all other boats on that stand, it is a great looking dinghy that's bound to attract lots of attention.
Launched in 2015 and owned by wife and husband team Judy and Paul Armstrong, Albacore 8228 is a composite version with the rock-solid grey Ovington hull expertly topped off with a gleaming wooden deck by Goslingdinghycraft and powered by McNamara sails with Milanes foils. We think it could be a possible candidate for the Concours d'Elegance but don't take our word for it have a look for yourself and chat to members of the class who will be on hand throughout the weekend.
Five new Ovington Albacore hulls have already rolled out of the mould in 2016 as interest in the class remains strong and competitors start to plan for the European Championships in July at Tynemouth SC, the Nationals at Llandudno SC in August and the 2017 Internationals at Weymouth & Portland NSA.
