2012 Laser Radial Gold Medallist at the RYA Suzuki Dinghy Show

by Jeremy Atkins, Fernhurst Books 2 Mar 2016 09:30 GMT Stand H10, 5-6 March 2016

Fernhurst Books are delighted to announce that Lijia (Lily) Xu – London 2012 Laser Radial gold medallist – will be on their stand on the Sunday of the RYA Suzuki Dinghy Show.

Lily, who has made the UK her home for the last 3 years, will be formally launching her new autobiography, Golden Lily, at 11.30am on Sunday 6th March on the Fernhurst Books stand (H70) and will be signing copies of her book from 12noon to 2pm.

Mid campaign to be selected by China for Rio 2016, this is a rare opportunity to see, meet and chat to Lily who is one of sailing's modern-day superstars. Lily won the girls Optimist World Championships twice and won bronze at the Beijing Olympics before achieving gold in London. Lily is flying in straight from the Laser Radial European Championships to be at the Dinghy Show where she won many friends and admirers last year.

In his foreword to her autobiography, Sir Ben Ainslie writes: "Lily is a true sailing champion... an inspiration for sailors, particularly female sailors, around the world."

Golden Lily tells of Lily's journey to success and is captivating reading. From leaving home at the age of 10, becoming a full-time sailor, going through the exhausting Chinese sports training regime and then finding a winning partnership with British coach Jon Emmett, Lily's autobiography gives a fascinating insight into this talented and inspiring young woman. It also contains many of her tips for success.

Jon Emmett (Lily's coach) will also be on the Fernhurst Books stand on the Sunday, signing copies of his book Coach Yourself to Win, which has been used to great acclaim by World Sailing for their Emerging Nations Programme. Nick Craig will be on the stand signing copies of his Helming to Win on Saturday.

Golden Lily, Coach Yourself to Win, Helming to Win and over 30 additional dinghy sailing titles will be available to buy all weekend on the Fernhurst Books stand (H10). We look forward to seeing you there.
