6-7 February 2016
Leg four, the last leg of the B14 Winter Pursuit Series takes part at the Tiger Trophy this weekend with 2 races on Saturday and the non-discardable pursuit on Sunday.
With 17 different teams taking part in the series, the 3 main protagonists will be attending for the final showdown. Series leaders GBR 795 Team GUL/North Sails (Mark Barnes/Charlotte Jones) lead on 2, 1, 1 from GBR 761 Whitstable Marine (Nick Craig/Tom Pygall) on 1, 15, 2 and GBR 788 Seavolution (Josh Wilce/Will Hall) on 3, 2, 15.
Only the 3 best results count with one discard. So with the forecast it looks like these 3 will be engaging in a battle royale and it won't be over until the Fat Lady Sings on Sunday afternoon.
Question is, will the breeze come in on prediction with 13 – 20 knots gusting 24 knots from the south on Saturday and SW 14 – 17 knots gusting 21 knots on Sunday, or will the low (967 – 962) pressure travel further north and bring greater wind to the event? This will have a big say in the outcome of which class has the bragging rights over the weekend, and which B14 will come out on top. Seavolution will be hoping for the big breeze to use their extra 10kg+ righting moment on the other 2 main players.
One thing is for sure, all three will be going at it with the hammer down. See you there.
