The open Frostbite series at Notts County Sailing Club, finished this weekend with a blast of whitecaping, pitchpoling Fireballs and lots of thrills in the relatively warm conditions. 46 dinghies and 7 windsurfers took part with just under 80 sailors taking to the water over the last seven weeks.
Kevin Hope won in a Fireball, with Tim Cripps in a laser second and Jeremy Arnold in a Flying Fifteen third in the Frostbite series, whilst the Oakleaf saw Kevin Hope & Andy Stewart win in fast handicap and Tim Cripps winning the slow handicap. Jake Willars was first junior (in 8th).
Early November saw mild and windy conditions, with one or two juniors finding the going tough, along with many adults who capsized regularly. The remaining days saw moderate winds, except for the penultimate races which where held in almost calm conditions.
The Series finished with a social in the clubhouse, and everyone looking forward to the First of the Year Race.
The Notts County First of the Year Race has a long tradition (must be at least 50 years old) and all are welcome to join us for the handicap race starting at 11.30am on 1st January 2016, entry on the day. See ncsc.org.uk/open-meeetings
