Fernhurst Books is proud to announce the publication of the third edition of the Solent Cruising Companion on 15th December. It is available now for pre-order with delivery before Christmas. It is an ideal last-minute Christmas gift for cruising friends and family, or a brilliant treat to yourself to dip into.
The Solent is the spiritual home of sailing and one of Britain's most popular sailing spots. Centred on Cowes, this fantastic new guide covers the ports and harbours from Keyhaven to Chichester. Comprehensive pilotage and nautical information is coupled with fantastic insight on the best places to eat, drink and explore ashore, giving an interesting and thorough overview to the area.
Stunning colour photography, including many newly commissioned aerial shots, make this a beautiful, as well as a very practical, book.
There are sections on the History of the Solent and Racing in the Solent, which includes photographs and a description of all the traditional Solent keelboat classes. These are followed by Solent racing charts and tidal streams.
While primarily for the cruiser, it will be of interest to anyone who enjoys or wants to enjoy the waters of the Solent, whether they are cruising, racing or both.
Derek Aslett's Solent Cruising Companion was first published in 2003. The second edition sold out in 2012 and has been sorely missed since then. Derek has completely updated the book for this third edition.
Along with their Cruising Companions, Fernhurst Books publish over 120 books and eBooks covering racing, cruising and a variety of other nautical subjects.
www.fernhurstbooks.com lists all the books and eBooks available. On the site you can also find videos and other resources to bring the books to life, as well as being able to register to receive news, details of new titles and exclusive special offers.
All the books can be bought direct from www.fernhurstbooks.com, and can be found in all good bookshops, book websites and chandleries.
