Summer returns!
Beautiful blue skies and a gentle easterly wind. What a lovely day to be on the water!
There were 14 boats out today for the Barry Rolfe Trophy. Many were a little too keen to get going, resulting in a general recall but the fleet eventually got away second time around.
The Olympic triangle course set by Race Office Iain Lamey took the fleet upwind to the Sandbanks shore before reaching back to to Poole Quay.
At the front, a close battle unfolded between Patrick Keats and Chris Jermyn, Bob Alexander and Huw Willetts and Martin Lewis and Mike Riley.
Bob and Huw held the lead at the start of the last downwind leg but were overtaken by Martin and Mike just before the leeward mark. Bob and Huw tried hard to attack on the last upwind leg but were unable to overhaul the leaders.
Race 5 Results: (top three)
1st Martin Lewis and Mike Riley
