Lymington XOD Autumn Series - Overall

by Roy Froud 26 Oct 2015 07:37 GMT 11 October 2015
Lymington XOD Autumn Saturday Series final race © RLymYC

A fantastic turnout of 19 Lymington XODs appeared for the final race of the season especially considering that it was a fairly dreary Saturday afternoon. With a shifty south westerly and a little ebb tide left, it was perhaps not surprising that the fleet were over eager to get back for the start of the rugby and were general recalled on their first start.

Upon restart the fleet were heavily divided in the best route to Lymington Bank with Nik Froud helming X72 Venus, Stuart Jardine guest star helming X178 Beatrix, and Paul Woodman's X32 Ibex heading a group to the shore with Richard Field's X92 Persephone headed furthest out to sea. Persephone held her nerve and had a healthy lead at Lymington Bank from Robin Balme's X117 X Ray with Venus in third. On the long shifty run to Jacksons things changed a little bit with Beatrix moving up to third ahead of David Da Cunha's Mayday. On the remaining last two legs not much happened at the front however Rory Paton's X48 XL managed to squeeze past Mayday to finish 4th.
