Parkstone Yacht Club Flying Fifteen Autumn Series - Race 3

Bob and Huw win race 3 of the Parkstone Flying Fifteen Autumn Series © Bob Alexander

A rather grey day with a moderate but shifty northerly wind greeted today's teams of 13 boats.

For race one, Race Officer Iain Lamey set an olympic triangle course directly in front of the clubhouse. The fleet got away first time, with Bob Alexander and Huw Willetts taking a small lead at the windward mark and they would extend their lead, leaving others to compete for the remaining places. Pete and Jo Allam, and Chris Gorringe and Nadia Hosie fought hard for second place with Pete and Jo coming out on top.

Race 3 Results:

1st Bob Alexander and Huw Willetts
2nd Pete and Jo Allam
3rd Chris Gorringe and Nadia Hosie

Mini Series Race 2

The 2nd race was a windward leeward course with the wind shifting. It was a surprise that the fleet got away first time and those choosing the right side of the beat gained handsomely. It was Chris and Nadia that rounded the first mark in the lead. The conditions were such that they could never feel comfortable with their lead, the strongest challenge coming from Pete and Jo who, at the finish, got within half a boat length of overtaking the leaders.

Mini Series Race 2 Results:

1st Chris Gorringe and Nadia Hosie
2nd Pete and Jo Allam
3rd Patrick Keats and Chris Jermym
