Topper Midlands Traveller series at Notts County Sailing Club

The final of the Topper Midlands Traveller series was held at Notts County Sailing Club over the weekend. Saturday saw coaching and 29 Toppers on the water in spite of the very light winds.
With a poor forecast (fog and calm) quite a few decided to return home, but fourteen toppers entered the Sunday Open Meeting. Unfortunately the poor forecast continued, with a zephyr of a wind allowing race officer Ken Twemlow to set a course. Racing quickly got under way and one lap was completed, but unfortunately several were OCS.
This didn't stop Nick Welbourn of Hykeham winning overall (bringing him to second in the Travellers), with James Tillyard from Notts County second and Scarlet Desorgher third.
The sailors waited for the wind to fill in again on the water, but unfortunately it was not to be, so the first and only race results stood.
