Flying Fifteen Southern Traveller Series at Middle Nene Sailing Club

After racing had to be abandoned on Saturday due to lack of wind, the day closed with a very enjoyable Autumn Dinner. So all hopes were pinned on Sunday, and whilst the wind was light and fluky, the fleet managed three races plus a Crews' Race!

Due to the changeable winds the results were open till almost the last minute with slow but sometimes very close racing, especially between the three main contenders for 1st place. 2433, 2407 and 2606 took a first and second each in the three races (2 to count) and the final score had to be calculated carefully, with the sailors from MNSC ensuring the trophy stayed at home. The visitors from Broxbourne took third place in the rankings of the Open Meeting.

The MNSC Open was also the final heat of the Southern Traveller Series for Classic Fifteens, an event which was held at Llangorse (Powys), Broxbourne (Herts.), South Cerney (Gloucestershire) and Middle Nene (Northants.).

Many thanks to all the sailors (visitors came from as far as North Yorkshire, Gloucestershire and Hertfordshire) and also to everyone who helped to make this event a great success!

The next Flying 15 Open Meeting for Classic and Silver Fleet boats will be held in early October 2016 (subject to confirmation).
