Based in Northampton, Pinnell & Bax are looking to recruit a Retail Manager to run our busy chandlery, both in store and online.
This is a key appointment for the business and fundamental to the continued success of P&B.
From its original formation as a UK based sailmaker in 1974 P&B has grown to cover all aspects of the sailing market, including the making and designing of sails, repairs (carbon, wood and grp), building and fitting out of new boats and the online chandlery /retail shop.
Whilst retaining its place as one of the leading sailing brands and sailmakers P&B continues to be the only one stop sailing shop in the UK.
The role of the retail manager is as varied and diverse as P&B, as such the ideal candidate will have:
- Strong management, administration, communication, interpersonal and organisational skills together with strong IT skills.
- Be able to lead, develop, and sustain effective working relationships with people both internally and externally and be a strong communicator.
- Be commercially aware with sufficient attention to detail to oversee and manage the stock levels of both the chandlery and the clothing side.
- A good knowledge of internet retailing and SEO optimisation would be a strong advantage.
Ideally the right candidate will also have a keen interest in sailing be it in a racing capacity or on the cruising side.
Core hours of the role are 8:30am – 5:00 pm during the winter period and 8:30am – 5:30pm during the summer sailing season. The successful candidate will also be expected to work as part of the Saturday rota which currently runs around 8 Saturdays a year.
