RC Laser Northern & National TT at Fleetwood Model Boat Club

So who's coming sailing? It's only a 30mph wind and it's going to rain all day!

Despite the dire forecast 14 ultra-keen skippers turned up.

The wind direction was from the roadside over the houses which meant it would be a bit swirly and reduced somewhat, so Race Officer Eric set a 'W' shape course that started with a biased line at the West end of the Lake heading towards the Boathouse.

Two and a half circuits with a dog leg were to be sailed finishing just short of the car park.

The first 2 races actually remained dry, but we were all at the ready, as we knew rain was imminent. Then after a further 3 races sailed all in B rigs lunch was called, with Derek Priestley in his usual form taking a handful of firsts under his belt.

After the break a change of batteries and a quick dry off, 6 more races were sailed to complete the afternoon session of eleven in total.

Apart from a couple of skippers trying the occasional C sail, the whole day was performed in the B suit.

Five individual Skippers managed at least one win, so it wasn't all a done deal.

Finished results had Derek P winning the day, despite using his 2 discards on an extended lunch break for family matters. Tim long on equal points pipped Shaun Holbeche on a countback for second place.

A great day with challenging conditions was had by all.

Next event in August is to be held across the Ribble at the Southport Marina.

Course allows boats to be closer than normal and with more possible infringements The Race Team using the wind direction of SE and 8 knots speed set a narrow course with a wing mark to form the triangle for the triangle sausage format.
