Ramsgate Week 2015 - Days 3 & 4

Day 3

It was day 3 of the race week and clearly some of the competitors had enjoyed the evening's entertainment and the extended repertoire of adult beverages available at the RTYC bar!

At stake today was Race 2 of the Regatta Series and the IRC classes were all sailed on the same Course; with individual class starts from the Committee Boat anchored approximately 1Nm offshore. Wind was from 270 degrees at 16 – 20 Knots, gusting 28 Knots. Wind from this direction tends to have variable shifts due to its transit over the land and also through the natural valleys along the coast line.

Course:

Start to Northrop Sails Buoy, Icom Buoy, Gull Buoy, Mark X Buoy, Brake Buoy, Deal Dolphin Buoy, Gull Stream and finish at Committee Boat – total distance approximately 20Nm.

IRC Class 1 – Race 2
1. 35 Xwaves – Mike & Jo Brand, Royal Temple Yacht Club – 3:27:24 hours
2. 9596 Slingshot - Rod Oates & Gavin Magee, Royal Temple Yacht Club – 3:28:29 hours

IRC Class 2 – Race 2
1. 8764 Buccaneer – Peter Pearson & Mike Lilwall, Royal Temple Yacht Club – 3:25:54 hours

IRC Class 3 – Race 2

The Cruiser classes 5, 6 and 7 were all started from the Royal Temple Yacht Club start line and each class sailed different courses commensurate with their desired race lengths/durations.

Course: Club line start, Stonar Buoy, Northrop Sails Buoy, Icom Buoy, Brake Buoy, Downs Buoy, Deal Dolphin Buoy, B2 Buoy, finish at ODM (using finish line A). Approximate distance 14.1 Nm

1. 1284 Mallard – Howard Bates, Rye Harbour Sailing Club – 2:27:16 hours
2. 659 Mallemok – Danny Besse, VVW Schelde (Netherlands) – 2:29:07 hours
3. 4530 Rush – Ken Lees, Royal Cinque Ports Yacht Club – 2:30:35 hours

Classes 6 and 7 sailed the same course and were started from the RTYC Club Line.

Course: Club line start, Stonar Buoy, St Georges Buoy, Icom Buoy, Brake Buoy, South Brake Buoy, Deal Dolphin Buoy, B2 Buoy, finish at ODM (using finish line A). Approximate distance 12.6Nm

Day 4

It was day 4 of the race week and at stake today was Race 3 of the Regatta Series and the results for this race were extracted and used for placings as Race 1 for the International Regatta Series. The IRC classes were all sailed on the same Course; with individual class starts from the Committee Boat anchored approximately 1Nm offshore.
