Ramsgate Week 2015 - Day 2

The IRC classes start their series racing Monday, followed by further coastal races on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday's racing will comprise two Windward / Leeward races for the QE2 Cup. Friday's competition is set aside for the prestigious Gold Cup that has been awarded to many famous names with their records engraved on the cup showing the extent of talent that have competed for this grand cup over the years.

The race today will count towards the weekly series and all IRC yachts sailed on the same Course.

The Committee Boat start was approximately 1Nm offshore with the first short leg to the Icom Buoy and then heading north to Broadstairs Knoll and turning southward for South Brake and heading northward for Gull Stream, Gull, Broadstairs Knoll, Mark X (Inflatable Orange Buoy), Northrop Sails, Icom, finishing at Committee Boat – total distance approximately 25Nm.

Wind from 270 degrees at 24 – 27, gusting 30 Knots.

The Cruiser Classes 5, 6 and 7 were all started from the Royal Temple Yacht Club start line and each class sailed different courses commensurate with their desired race lengths/durations.
