Scottish Musto Skiff Training at Dalgety Bay Sailing Club

20-21 June 2015
Eight Musto Skiffs gathered under blue skies and fair winds for a training weekend hosted by Dalgety Bay SC. Jamie Hilton managed to juggle attendance at a wedding with coaching as he returned to his childhood club.
The Trotters and Stuart Keegan showed their pace in the brisk winds which increased throughout the weekend, while Jono Shelley pushed out forward.
Sunday morning started with dry tacking practice and a discussion on a variety of techniques. Neil Wilson looked organised through the tack, though it may have been trying to avoid face versus boom incidents of the day before.
In the brisk 15-18 knots Aaron Murray transferred his 29er skills to the flat wiring and screaming reaches and looked impressive on the turns too.
There seems to be just as much enthusiasm for training as racing in the north just now, so we will arrange another training event this season. Largo next weekend does not look like a big turnout, but Chanonry Regatta on 1/2 August will have a strong showing from the northern contingent.
Many thanks to Ian Renilson for arranging with the club and the many helpers from DBSC. A great club, a great venue, what a weekend.
