Enterprise Eastern Area Championship at Dabchicks Sailing Club

by Brian Cumming 22 Jun 2015 09:51 BST 13-14 June 2015

This event was sailed on two days with very contrasting weather conditions. Saturday saw the two home boats joined by Lloyd Walker crewed by Stevie Brown from Leigh Sailing Club. Lloyd has just returned to the class after a few years racing in other classes.

Racing started in a good force 4 which gradually increased in race two. After a long foul tide first beat Lloyd was first to round the mark and shot off with the tide, which made the reaches seem very short. Brian and Linda Cumming were second with Peter and Elaine Dolling in third. These positions stayed the same to the finish.

In race two Lloyd again lead at the first mark followed by Brian, but Peter and Elaine decided to head for home. On the second beat Brian and Linda also head in, leaving Lloyd with a well deserved win.

Sunday was a different day. After a very slow sail to the race area and a wait for the Lark fleet to arrive, the race started and Brian lead at the first mark with Lloyd close in second followed by Peter. Brian extended the lead to take the win.

The next start was delayed by a big wind shift resulting in the race team having to relay all the marks. The beat was short and as the Enterprises were starting the Larks were completing their first round so both fleets raced together. Lloyd rounded first with Peter second followed by Brian. These positions stayed the same to the finish which gave Lloyd and Stevie a very well deserved Championship. A nice way to return to the class.

Overall Results:

1st 22353, Lloyd Walker and Stevie Brown (Leigh S.C.)
2nd 23049, Brian and Linda Cumming (Dabchicks S.C.)
3rd 22912, Peter and Elaine Dolling (Dabchicks S.C.)
