Competition at the Lofoten UK RS Elite UK National Championships will be tougher than ever before this year and include Olympic medallists, world and national champions; many of them new to the Class this year.
The event will be hosted by the Royal Lymington Yacht Club from July 30 to August 2, with ten races scheduled in Christchurch Bay and the Western Solent and has attracted the support of three significant sponsors, Lofoten Asset Management, Kipper Sailing Online and Kandoo.
Title sponsor Lofoten Asset Management is a privately owned investment management company, specialising in European Equities and successful MD, Willem Vinke, is "Delighted to sponsor this great Class with a wonderful family of sailors". Substantiating Willem's claim to love the RS Elite is the fact that he owns two boats - one based in Lymington and the other within the Oslo Fjord fleet in Norway, close to his summer home!
Kipper Sailing Online is a contemporary e-learning system for RYA Day Skipper, Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster qualifications. The system allows progression through the narrated courses anytime, anyplace, with the ability to move back and forward through the syllabus, giving the best opportunity to ensure each section has been fully grasped. John Corden, Principal of Kipper Sailing Online says "I wish all the RS Elite competitors, race management and club team a fantastic event and look forward to seeing you all there".
Major bag manufacturer Kandoo is the proud supplier to many blue chip companies and is no stranger to the RS Elite Class, with Managing Director Crauford McKeon a two-time past winner. "Kandoo works hard to take the stress out of the day to day business of purchasing management for our clients, with attention to detail and while using ethical, fair trading practices at our Chinese factories. I am pleased to be associated with a great Class with enviable family values that encourages competitors of all ages to enjoy sailing".
The support of these sponsors will ensure a fantastic RS Elite Nationals with packed racing and social programmes, including activities and spectating opportunities for non-sailing "support crews".
Look out for a form guide to the runners and riders ahead of the Nationals and then to seeing the RS Elite Class in action five days after the Championships with a record fleet at AAM Cowes Week.
