Island Sailing Club Evening Racing Series - Day 2

by Mike Peskett, Principal Race Officer 29 Apr 2015 12:15 BST 28 April 2015

A solid 20 knot breeze form the West South West greeted the 48 starters in the second race of the Evening Race Series on Tuesday. Windward-leeward courses were set to the East for all classes with the first mark being Artemis the Project Hunter for Classes 1 and 2 and West Ryde Middle for all the others.

The wind was too strong for the ISC Sonars to fly spinnakers and the two 'privateers' kindly followed suit, but as they, as well as 4 others in the fleet of 10, failed to start properly, this made no difference to the result!

Unfortunately, in Class 2, "Party" failed to keep up with last week's result (2nd) limping home with one of the most spectacular spinnaker wraps seen in the Solent for a while.

Gill McCutcheon, in his Flying Fifteen Ffuraha, is the only competitor to have registered two firsts in the Series so far.

Thankfully, all boats finished before sunset with the last timed in at 20.15.
