Ullswater is the only place to be for all Skiff sailors on May 2, 3 and 4.
Entries are now open for Ullswater Yacht Club's special Skiff event for 49ers/49fx, 29ers, RS800 and Musto Skiffs as well as a handicap fleet and International Canoes.
Five windward/leeward races are planned over the weekend along with a special long distance race on Monday, May 4. Five races out of six will count towards the overall results. The event is part of the Scottish Skiff Travellers' series and the club is pleased to welcome members of the International Canoe fleet who are returning to race in an open after a two year break.
Many skiff sailors already know the lake through taking part in the Lord Birkett Memorial Trophy, one of the most spectacular sailing events in the North. The iconic event, two long distance races the full length of the lake and back, attracts more than 200 boats every year (this year it is being held on July 4 and 5).
The event has been won a record six times by local 49er helm Lester Noble and competitors will have a chance to get in some early Birkett practice during Monday's long distance race. Event organisers are planning to send the fleet on a Birkett-length course down the lake to Norfolk Island and back – weather permitting.
On shore over the three-day holiday there's the usual UYC hospitality on offer with the galley open for food and drink and camping on site.
The entry form and notice of race are now available on the UYC website under 'Events' – www.ullswateryachtclub.org
