505 World Champions!
505 WORLD CHAMPIONS!
Easter weekend saw the climax of the SAP 505 World Championships in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. P&B enjoyed another hugely successful week after a 1,2 finish in the Pre Worlds. Five bullets secured an emphatic victory for Mike Holt and Carl Smit winning the 505 World Championships for a second year in a row! P&B's Ian Pinnell and crew Johannes Tellen came in a close second with two bullets of there own and were delighted with the speed of the their new boat. Americans Conrads and Haines came in third to make it a 1, 2, 3 for P&B Sails...read full report!

P&B's dedication to the 505 class over the last 12 months is evident, our sails have won the World Championships 2014 and 2015, UK, French and Finnish National Championships. Following an impressive year in the 505 we wanted to highlight some of the important developments made by Ian and the P&B team over the last 12 months.

HULL
2014 saw the release of the NEW fully optimised Ovington 505 hull with features that include narrower sections forward, flatter and more powerful run-off aft, maximum waterline length and increased stiffness and structural efficiency.
FIT OUT
With years of successful sailing experience Ian and the team worked tirelessly to reduce weight and improve efficiency inside the boat. As a result of continual development and testing of 505s Ian's boat  boat was optimised with:
Rope Bridal System - replacing the self tacking car, track and hoop to reduce weight.
Rope Fairlead System For Jib - replacing the track, the new system saves weight and allows for more accurate setting adjustments across three planes.
Central Control Line/Take Up System - hidden away under the cap casing the central system reduces the chances of snags and tangles as well as looking neater.
MAST
The P&B workshop team produced the first P&B Twin Spinno system. Made in-house by our carbon experts. P&B's new Carbon Twin Spinno's are made with larger ball bearing sheaves which reduces friction and allows for faster and smoother runs. With production in house the P&B Carbon Twin Spinno has three size options for sheave width placement which adjusts sheave spread to suit your mast.
SAILS
P&B have developed a light yet stable 505 Radial Main along side a Flat Genoa and Monster Spinnaker. It is this suit of sails which won the 2014 World Championships and claimed the first three places at this years Championships. Using the latest sail design software the P&B sail loft were able to work from feedback provided by the 505 class to refine panel layout, construction and provide progressively smoother, faster 505 Sails.

With a passion and dedication to the development of dinghy sailing P&B offers a full service from  bare hull to fully fitted out race ready dinghies in14 different classes. This breadth of knowledge allows us to provide the best products on the market including Sails, Covers, Chandlery and Clothing.

Kit Of The Week!
KIT of the WEEK!
Each week one of the P&B team will be looking into their kit bag and giving us an item that they simply wouldn't sail without!

Getting his second pick in as many weeks we got Ian to give us another 'Kit of the Week' choice before he makes his way back to the UK. On the warmer days sailing on the South African coast Ian found that the Musto Long Sleeve Rash Vest (as seen in the 505 World pics from Christophe Favreau) was a perfect layer to go underneath his long john. With temperatures rising and a forecast of sun we thought the timing couldn't be better for this product, plus it's also on sale with 17% OFF!
