RS Sailing Test Sail Dates & Venues

|
It's that time of year - spring has (nearly) sprung, the clocks have changed and it's time to get back on the water.
We know test sailing helps to make the final decision so below are details of our new test venues and the available dates we have over the coming period for you to trial the boat of your choice.
|
Queen Mary Sailing Club, in West London has been our test centre for the last few years. The reservoir is centrally located, with good access from the M40, M4, M3 and M25.
Hayling Island Sailing Club
HISC is our new South Coast option for test sails, with it's beach location - just 15 minutes from the A27 provides the perfect setting for testing any RS.
|
The below dates are available by appointment only, allocating an hour for your test sail. Our staff can be on hand to sail with you with prior arrangement and you must bring all your sailing kit and Buoyancy Aid. A safety boat is on hand at all times during your test sail. Our Team member will talk you through the boat before you go afloat to ensure you make the most of it.
We do not hold any sailing kit on site for either loan or hire, but our store stocks everything you would need to comfortably go sailing in an RS!
Test sails are offered to adults and children over 16 years old. Children under 16 can sail with a parent or guardian, but not on their own in our single handed boats.

Test sails in the RS700, RS800 and RS Elite need to be arranged separately to the dates above. These are such high performance sailboats, you will need longer than one hour on the water. Please contact the team directly to arrange this. If you have pre-ordered any of these boats subject to test sail we will be in touch shortly.

Something to consider
All appointments are subject to our T's & C's of sailing, which you will receive by return. Sailing tuition is available through Queen Mary Sailing Club directly, not RS. Consider a refresher course to blow the cobwebs out before testing an RS, especially if it has been while! Local courses can be found here.
Your safety in our sailboats is very important to us and for this reason we reserve the right to postpone a demonstration where a reasonable level of competency to sail your chosen boat cannot be shown. We respect there is a learning curve to any new dinghy, and will assist wherever possible. We provide equipment for you to sail at your own risk.
Your first sail in a new boat is always going to be unfamiliar. Your choice will need to be based on how you'll develop owning the boat in the future. A lack of ultimate control and perhaps a little clumsiness at first is normal! This will pass with practice.
Be objective with your evaluation
Consider your size, shape, agility and where and how often you will sail your RS. Your experience in the boat makes a big difference to how comfortable you feel over the longer term. Please make sure you quiz one of our RS Team members if you have any queries surrounding this.
Visit our showroom at HQ!
We want you to get the most out of your test sail, but it is not a showroom! It may be worth you visiting our HQ in Romsey, Hampshire to get familiar with the sailboats if you have not seen the model you are interested in before. This will give you more time on the water to help your decision.
