Providing best-in-class electronics to the UK's top race sailors
Following the success of last year's inaugural event, Raymarine will again sponsor the 2015 Raymarine J/80 Championships, underscoring the company's commitment to the sail racing market. The J/80 continues to be one of the best-selling sports boats in Europe, while Raymarine's industry-leading wireless technology offers racers timely and accurate information for tactical decision-making.
The 2015 season will feature races at several of the UK's top yachting venues, beginning with the Warsash Spring Series in April and culminating in September at the Royal Southern Yacht Club for the J/80 Nationals, the finale of which will see the 2015 Raymarine J/80 Championship awarded. Raymarine will be awarding Raymarine electronics and other prizes to the top three crews.
"Our high performance wireless electronics give J/80 racers the crucial information they need to make quick decisions in this highly competitive class," said Grégoire Outters, Vice President and General Manager of FLIR Maritime. "We wish all the boats involved in this year's Raymarine J/80 Championship series a safe and successful season and we look forward to celebrating the commitment of these talented crews."
The Raymarine Wireless wind and depth system uses wireless solar powered instruments to keep weight on-board to a minimum. Super-large 38mm digital readouts provide the crew with easily visible information while complying with J/80 Class rules.
The Raymarine Wireless Race Master is both a tactical compass and wind shift indicator. Its two-tier display shows heading and distance above or below the mean course plus how much the wind is heading or lifting the vessel. The Raymarine Wireless Race Master makes it easy to find both the favoured end of the start line and the shortest distance to the windward mark. On a downwind leg, the Raymarine Wireless Racemaster shows exactly how far off dead downwind the vessel is sailing; allowing the helmsman to choose the optimal time to gybe and stay ahead of the competition.
Raymarine's compact Wireless Micro Compass is a light and easy to read racing compass that delivers reliable and precise compass heading. When tacking towards a windward mark in tactics mode, the Wireless Micro Compass presents the helmsman with a patented 90-degree split-screen that displays the same reference number on port and starboard tacks, making it easy for the helmsman to spot a lifting or heading wind shift.
