European Championship winning Hornet at the RYA Suzuki Dinghy Show

Stand C48, 28 February - 1 March 2015
The 2014 European Championship winning Hornet will be this year's star attraction on the RYA Hornet Association stand. The Tim Coombes built boat has been recently been re-worked, and will be wearing the latest sails from Exe Sails & Covers, with owner and Exe Sails proprietor Sam Woolner and his trusty helm Will Magrath on hand to any questions.
The Association is also on the lookout for some new crews, as a few helms are struggling at the moment. There is no truth in the rumours of helms brandishing cat o'nine tails as an incentive, honestly, as if we would, but if you haven't tried crewing on the wire, now is a good time to come and get your name down. The plan is to create a database so that we can provide crews for those who get stuck. With a symmetric spinnaker, a big genoa, and a boat that will plane easily even upwind, it is occasionally a very exciting position!
We will be giving frisbees away for those applying, and potential helms as well – there is a 'try a Hornet' scheme in operation for the interested parties.
We have a full programme of opens this year covering the all the south coast up to North Wales, and are looking to repeat the numbers of our Diamond Anniversary when we return to Brixham for our national championships in August this year.
