Team Seldén sailors Luke Patience and Elliot Willis have taken victory at the Miami ISAF Sailing World Cup. Sailing on Biscayne Bay, Miami Florida, the team that has not yet been formed a year beat the dominant Australian team in second place who are the current world champions.
With a mixture of conditions including a windy first day even the Olympic Silver Medallist from London 2012 found the conditions unusual and tough. What the boys can be assure of is the their Seldén mast was dependable throughout the regatta in a mixture of conditions.
Luke and Elliot used a Cumulus mast, with a CNC plasma cut taper, welded automatically meaning that race and spare masts will have identical bend. Masts are heat treated in house to deliver a higher hardness specification. Other sections are available for the 470, Zeta for lighter weight teams and Alto for heavier teams and sailors looking for more power.
Ball bearing sheave boxes are standard, along with fully adjustable spreaders and a Stainless Steel gooseneck pin, extended goosenecks and halyard locks can be fitted by request.
The guys also used a Olympus boom section that is specifically designed to fit inside the 470 class rules, maximum dimensions provide a stiff boom that has a slash removed a the outboard end to reduce weight. Stainless Steel fittings are fitted throughout for Kicker and Mainsheet block attachment. Complemented with 42mm tapered spinnaker poles, heat treated in our own oven and fitted with our own plastic pole ends to reduce pole end weight but also with Stainless steel plungers for high performance.
