South West RS Feva Open Training at Royal Torbay Yacht Club

by Sally Campbell 12 Jan 2015 13:18 GMT 10-11 January 2015

The South West Feva Open Training kicked off in style this weekend at Royal Torbay Yacht Club.

Twenty sailors, including National and Zone Squad members, sailors moving up from the Oppies and those new to racing/sea sailing all braved the 35 knot gusts in Torbay on Saturday, demonstrating impressive skill and determination throughout the group.

Sunday morning dawned lighter, enabling the sailors to work on boat handling techniques before the wind picked up and the gusts came in again for the series of short races and afternoon split sessions.

Weekend race prizes went to two pairs of brothers - Dan & Fin Armstrong and Jude & Eric McFarlane, with the prize for achievement of goals going to Julia Barnes & Lauren Paton.

Thanks to Alex, Emma and all at RTYC for a great weekend. Next stop Bristol Corinthian on 31st Jan/1st February.
