South African wine brand Stormhoek, based in the famous Western Cape wine region, has been announced as the Official Wine Partner of the Clipper 2015-16 Round the World Yacht Race.

Clipper Race chairman, and globally renowned adventurer Sir Robin Knox-Johnston remarked: "Stormhoek wines celebrate adventure and human achievement, and there is simply no bigger human achievement on this planet than to compete in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race. It's the perfect fit.

"We are delighted to welcome Stormhoek on board as Official Wine Partner for the Clipper 2015-16 Race, and look forward to toasting our brave crew's achievements along the journey with a glass, or two with wines that celebrate exactly this."

Stormhoek wines, from the Cape of Storms, have braved the elements just like Clipper Race crew members, and celebrate the friendships that are made, whenever life is lived. Of the eighteen wines in the range, Clipper 2015-16 Race crew will be served Stormhoek Chardonnay and Stormhoek Cabernet Sauvignon during race arrivals and official events.

Stormhoek Managing Director Bernard Fontannaz said: "Our decision to become the Official Wine Partner for the Clipper 2015-16 Race was simple. Just like the Clipper Race, Stormhoek wines celebrate life, human adventure and changing your world. We believe everyone has extraordinary abilities within themselves and that by coming together, through huge adventures like the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, we can discover what makes life worth living.

"It takes guts and persistence to sail across an ocean, and we're very much looking forward to celebrating with the Clipper Race crews, especially as they sail across the Atlantic, through the Cape of Storms, to discover the beauty of our homeland in South Africa."

Founded by legendary yachtsman Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race is the world's longest ocean race, uniquely for amateur sailors. Also known as one of the world's toughest endurance challenges, less people have circumnavigated the world than have climbed Mount Everest.

In the last race, more than 670 people from over 40 different countries took the challenge, facing some of Mother Nature's most unforgiving conditions in some of the planet's most remote locations which include the roaring forties, the Southern Ocean sleigh ride, and the powerful Pacific.

The Clipper 2015-16 Race starts Sunday, August 30, 2015, and will mark the tenth edition of the biennial event. The twelve-strong fleet of Clipper 70 ocean racers will visit Cape Town, South Africa in October 2015 during the 40,000 nautical mile race.
