RYA Scotland announce James Allan as new Chief Executive

James Allan has been announced as the new Chief Executive of RYA Scotland this week and he is looking forward to the exciting opportunities and challenges that the role has to offer.
Tony Gorzkowski, RYA Scotland Chairman said of his appointment:
"We are very pleased to welcome James to the RYA Scotland team. His background in leading teams within the voluntary sector and in local government combined with his breadth of experience in boating will make a great asset to our community across Scotland as well as for RYA members and the RYA Scotland team.
"Joining our team at the start of February 2015, James will bring a new energy and focus to help achieve the targets for the coming season and beyond."
James will take up the post in February 2015.
James Allan had the following to say about his appointment as CEO:
"To be Chief Executive of RYA Scotland is a fantastic, once in a lifetime opportunity for me. The role will enable me to bring my energy, passion and experience into an organisation that means a great deal to me personally."
"I believe that my varied professional background and experience on the water will help me to connect with all boating interests at all levels; from local clubs and participation programmes to the top performers of the racing community."
"I am really looking forward to joining the team at RYA Scotland next year."
James is an active sailor and is passionate about his interests including windsurfing, keelboat racing and cruising and instructing power boating. He has been involved in boating all his life and has extensive experience in each of these areas combined with a wealth of professional experience in the voluntary sector and local government.
Currently, James joint owns a Jeanneau Sunfast 32i and a trailer full of windsurfing kit.
