Liga Layar Malaysia Match Racing at Pulau Duyong - Day 2

by Norzuhaira Ruhanie 16 Nov 2014 17:22 GMT 15-17 November 2014

Jeremy Koo of the Sime Darby Foundation/1Malaysia Match Racing Team is on cruise control as he finished Day Two of Liga Layar Malaysia 2014 Pulau Duyong edition with no defeats.

Koo defeated all his opponents in the two round robin stages to top the standings and set up a semi final showdown with Ishak Jab of RMNMRT/151 Onesails.

The seasoned skipper made it look too easy and comfortably defeated Ishak in the first of three flights in the semi final fixture.

Ishak however is not throwing the towel yet and is looking forward to resuming his duel with Koo on Day Three on Monday.

"Jeremy is a very experienced sailor and was always the favourite to win against us.

"We tried hard to defeat him in the first flight but we did not manage to.

"However, I had a good post-match briefing with my crew members and tomorrow we are still going out there to try and win it.

"My team was just assembled last week so it does take time for the members to gel, but we will try our very best tomorrow," said Ishak after the race.

Nurul Elia Anuar continued to impress with her newly-assembled ReMix Team and finished second in the standings with six wins out of eight in the round robin stages.

The 23-year-old however was not so lucky in the semi final, where she lost the first flight to the second 1Malaysia Match Racing Team, skippered by Hazwan Dermawan.

The last two flights for both semi final fixtures will be played on Monday, before the final in the later half of the day.

The winner of the Liga Layar Malaysia 2014 Pulau Duyong edition will win RM6,000 prize money, while the runner-up and second runner-up will win RM4,000 and RM3,000 respectively.

Ishak Jab (RMNMRT/151 Onesails) 0-1 Jeremy Koo (Sime Darby Foundation/1Malaysia Match Racing Team)
