ATTENTION TO DETAIL

A lot of the work I have found myself doing recently has been all about the little things that make a boat go that little bit quicker. Whether it be foil alignment or making a tapered jib sheet a lot of our work is focused on the completion of a boat to gain the extra few percent which really show when you are on the water.

Depending on your class, you can get really carried away, I think this is probably where a large part of my passion for sailing in the I14 class comes from, the constant development along with each sailors belief in what is important is there to see in what their boat tends to be. Boat finishing is equally important in a one design and it is no great surprise when you look at the top 10 or 20 boats in a class such as the RS200 or 29er,  you will find these boats have all the small upgrades, will be maintained to a high standard to avoid breakages and systems will have been sorted within the rules to maximise performance.

Many classes such as Fireballs, Merlins and 505s have dramatically slowed down in terms of development to the point where hulls show little differences and the fundamental gains are in the spars, sails and occasionally foils. Getting a package that works for you across the wind range is critical and beyond that it comes right back round to making sure you tick the boxes for the little things like perfect foils and a slot gasket that is attached to the hull and in immaculate condition. Getting the most from your boat is our area of expertise and with a one stop shop philosophy we can provide you with anything you require to get the most from your boat over the next year.

Our teams understanding is driven by our own sailing within the classes we service meaning there is no better level of knowledge, range of products and services to get you at the front of the fleet.

GREAT NEW GUL PRODUCT
Cold weather and time for the beginning of the winter handicap series means it's time to think about keeping warm. Some of the best sailing in the UK happens through the winter months. With advancements in clothing getting out on the water is now possible no matter the weather and without a negative effect on the enjoyment. We are always looking to increase our range of stock to offer the latest and best products to our customers.

Gul have been a long running supplier for winter products and offer a fantastic range of drysuits and winter steamers.  New to our shelves is the Women’s Code Zero Drysuit, the introduction of the unique horseshoe zip on the code zero meant it was one of the fastest selling last winter, this is a great product for trapeze or hiking available in a really good range of sizes.

Also new from Gul this year is the men and women’s Profile CZ Steamer Wetsuits. Taking all the technology from their surf suits and adding features specific to sailing including bum and shin protection makes this a really complete garment which they have also priced really competitively.
