The GREAT Britain campaign is to repeat its partnership with the world's longest ocean race, run by UK based Clipper Ventures, after a highly successful campaign in the 2013-14 series which profiled British trade, tourism and sport in major markets on six continents over the year-long biennial 40,000 miles classic.
The opportunity for British brands to partner in the initiative will be launched officially on 16 January 2015.
"We're delighted that 'GREAT Britain' will once again compete in this iconic sporting event," said Conrad Bird, Director of the GREAT Britain campaign. "We will build on the success of our 2013-14 involvement to develop an innovative trade and tourism partnership with Clipper Ventures that delivers jobs and growth for Britain.
"The GREAT Britain campaign is a unique platform from which to promote British technology, innovation, manufacturing, creativity, adventure and hospitality in key markets around the world. I'd encourage British companies to seize the opportunity to get involved and join this GREAT partnership."
Historically the original Clipper ships opened up ocean routes that became the backbone of Britain's trading power. Today the Clipper Race continues to promote global trade and connections through its contemporary fleet of twelve matched ocean racing yachts which pits amateur crews under the guidance of professional skippers against the world's most challenging oceans.
The GREAT Britain entry generated a high profile with news coverage alone creating 606 million opportunities to see (OTS) – delivering an equivalent advertising value of £4.46 million. This is over and above the trade and investment opportunities created, tourism promotion and economic impact generated in UK events.
Overall, the Clipper Race has trebled its global news audience race on race in the last edition to create an OTS of 3.8 billion, with a PR value in excess of £75 million. This will grow even further with a TV series to be distributed in the New Year by BBC Worldwide.
The 2013-14 edition finished in London next to Tower Bridge in July this year after a series of 16 races between major ports in Brazil, South Africa, Australia, South East Asia, China, USA and Europe. The next edition will be the tenth Clipper Race since it was established in 1996 and will complete a similar circumnavigation starting in August 2015.
There are six partnership places available at £250,000 each in return for a bespoke package of benefits enhanced by the GREAT Campaign. Organisations interested in this opportunity should contact
