The European team heading for the 2015 B14 World Championships being held at McCrae YC on the Mornington Peninsula, Melbourne, Victoria, successfully packed their boats and equipment into a 40' high-cube Hamburg Süd container at the weekend.
There will be 12 European teams competing in the 2015 World Championships, eleven from the UK and one from France – Sébastien and Sophie LeCam being the first of the growing French fleet to make the trip down-under for a Worlds with the support of the UK fleet with boat collection and container loading.
The container is leaving imminently for the long trip to Melbourne via the Panama Canal to arrive safely in time for the team to compete at the Australian Nationals (29–31 December) and the World Championships (2-6 January).
With a strong turnout from Australia, the form guide would indicate that the event should go to the wire. Form guide and daily reports will follow from the event.
The European team would like to thank Hamburg Süd for their generosity in sponsoring the container shipment which made the costs manageable, allowing teams on all budgets to compete, along with Leaky of Leaky Pipe systems who seems to have spent most of October in a 40' shipping container measuring up, making racking and ensuring we could get the record number of boats in the container. And we'd probably better thank the Aussie team for loaning the bits that we couldn't fit in too...!
