Contender Inland Championships at Rutland - Runners and Riders

by Mike Murley 23 Oct 2014 14:14 BST 1-2 November 2014

The Contender fleet meets for the last BCA event of 2014 at Rutland on 1st & 2nd November for the Inland Championship. The 2014 Travellers Series will also be decided and this year it's tight.

Tommy Hooton has made great strides this season following on from his race win at the Worlds in Australia. Currently leading the series and with a strong chance of taking the travellers series. 25-1

Rodger White, Tony Cook and Bill Hooton are next in the Travellers table. All some way behind but if it's a light and shifty weekend then who knows. 50-1

More threatening to Tommy's shot at the title is Highcliffe's Gary Langdown who needs little introduction having won most UK titles in his time, and looks poised this year. Could easily take the Inlands and the Travellers. 5-1

Several sailors are out of the running for the Travellers Series, but with a good chance at the Inlands title.

National Champ, Simon Mussell. No slouch in any conditions but if its windy then odds on to win. 7-1

Obviously low on air miles this season, Stu Jones hasn't even qualified for the Travellers. But no one should rule him out of the Inlands. In fact he's favourite assuming he makes the trip. 3-2

Previous winner of the Travellers Series, Martin Frary from Weston. Described as "twitchy" in an earlier report. Never gives up and a decent tip for the Inlands on his day. 10-1

The North is always well represented at the Inlands, including Neil Fergusson from Yorkshire Dales and Tim & Ben Holden from Halifax. Tim & Ben Holden, both fantastic competitors in most conditions, especially if it's windy. One or both will be somewhere near the front. 10-1

Another guy going faster and faster in the breeze is Ed Presley. Traditionally a windy event at Rutland, maybe this could be Ed's year. 20-1

See you there to upset the odds!
