FLIR Takes Home Three NMEA awards

by Fiona Pankhurst 23 Oct 2014 18:27 BST 8-11 October 2014

FLIR Systems is delighted to announce that three of its products won awards at the recent 2014 National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) annual convention and expo, held in Fort Myers, USA. FLIR Systems develops, manufacturers, and markets maritime products under both the FLIR and Raymarine brands.

Each year, NMEA members recognize manufacturers for their innovation and leadership in the industry. This year, the FLIR MD625 fixed-mount thermal night-vision camera tied for first in the Specialty category, the Raymarine Evolution™ autopilot was one of two winners in the Autopilot category, and the highly-advanced, multi-sensor FLIR MV604CL thermal night vision system took home the 2014 NMEA-BWI Technology award outright.

"FLIR is honoured to be recognized among the best in the industry," commented FLIR President and CEO, Andy Teich. "As the World's Sixth Sense™, we strive to deliver products that help boaters be safer, have more control and have more fun. We are delighted that our superior thermal night vision technology and the Raymarine Evolution™ autopilot with its 9-axis sensor technology were recognized as truly innovative products that transform the boating experience."

Part of the FLIR MV-Series, the multi-sensor FLIR MV604CL has active gyro-stabilization, radar and video tracking, thermal imaging, and visible color and black & white low-light cameras, making it one of the most technically-advanced thermal night vision systems in the maritime industry.

The affordable, fixed-mount FLIR MD625 thermal night-vision camera is simple to mount and easy to integrate into existing electronics systems. It outputs standard analog video that can be easily displayed on any monitor at the helm or throughout a vessel.

Raymarine's Evolution autopilot range was launched last year and has attracted the attention of boat owners and boat manufacturers everywhere for its accurate performance, 9-axis sensor technology, simple Automagic™ calibration, and ease of installation. Evolution combines advanced aerospace guidance technology with Raymarine's marine autopilot expertise to deliver a breakthrough in autopilot intelligence. Evolution also won the 2013 NMEA-BWI Technology award.
