British Team at the IFDS Blind Match Racing Championships - Day 2

by Lucy Hodges 12 Sep 2014 12:47 BST 9-14 September 2014

Day 1 was called off due to high winds and rolling waves seeing the temperature drop to 43.

But into day two the rolling waves were still rolling into the shore of Sheboygan and breeze was up, but with an hours delay all boats where released to start the first round robin of three. GBR were in match 2 flight 1, with the waves rolling in this made the conditions difficult for the sailors.

GBR had a great entry seeing them chase Australia and try and gain a penalty but with no success, but both boats started on the gun seeing GBR gain a good lead. With waves continuing and the breeze dropping the downwind legs where frustrating with all teams keeping patient and looking for the marks. GBR gained a good win over AUS.

Flight 2 saw GBR against Canada. With a blue entry GBR entered and headed across to engage. GBR tried once again to gain a penalty but with the rolling waves it was tricky, but another clean start GBR were off up wind. With the wind slightly up it gave GBR a chance to gain a good lead and finish their day on a 100% win.

GBR go into day 3 with a solid start and a hope for more breeze. Again a big thanks to our sponsors North face, Zhik and Oceanair for supporting GBR.
