Nations Cup two-boat team racing and lay day

The fleet racing took a break today while a well deserved break was taken from the very physically demanding conditions in Quiberon Bay. The two-boat team racing Nations Cup took place during the afternoon with 11 nations participating. Following two leagues of six teams the top 8 went in to the quarter finals and semis with the top two teams emerging as FRA and GBR. In a very tactical first to two wins in the finals the FRA team performed majestically to take a narrow 2-1 win - bravo the French team from Le Havre! And thank you to the volunteers, committee and on-the-water umpires for making it all happen.

Elsewhere there were beach games during the afternoon where the football finals came down to Sevenoaks School v Oakham School. It is rumoured that the Sevenoaks team had a couple of ringers from the international association to level the numbers up but whatever - they won that!

The finale for the day was the 750 strong barbeque at the club and it has to be said that it was one of the most scrumptious mass barbeques in the author's memory.

And so now - the last 2 days of Gold, Silver and Bronze fleet racing to decide the choccies!
