With just a few weeks to go until racing commences, anticipation is building for the inaugural Invitational Team Racing Challenge taking place in Porto Cervo, Sardinia, from 2nd to 6th July. A full quota of eight international yacht cubs have signed up for the event and the Bavaria B/One sportsboats that will be used on the race course have arrived at the Mediterranean home of organizers the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda.

Teams composed of two crews of four members each will compete over three days of racing with a reserve day scheduled for Sunday 6th July. Representing Germany will be teams from the Bayerischer Yacht Club of Monaco and the Norddeutscher Regatta Verein of Hamburg. Great Britain also fields two teams flying the colours of the Royal Thames Yacht Club and Serpentine Team Racing. Australia and Greece will be represented by the Royal Perth Yacht Club and Team Atlanti / Yacht Club of Greece respectively, while Italian sailors will make up the teams of the Circolo Canottieri Aniene of Rome and, of course, home team the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda.

Two on two team racing is a fast and fun formula that has been gaining ground in recent years. Coupled with the renowned race course off Sardinia's Costa Smeralda and the celebrated hospitality of the YCCS, competitors can expect a highly enjoyable first edition of what is set to become an annual event on the YCCS sporting calendar.

In addition to exciting action on the water, teams and their supporters will be kept busy ashore with a full social programme organized by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda. From the Welcome Party at the YCCS Clubhouse to daily after-race refreshments in Piazza Azzurra and from a formal dinner on the YCCS Pool Terrace to a Team Barbecue at Aqua Lounge, participants will be able to relax and unwind in beautiful surroundings after each day's racing.

During the regatta news, updates and photos will be published on the Invitational Team Racing Challenge page on Facebook and the YCCS Twitter account as well as on the YCCS website.

The Entry list and full event details are available on www.yccs.com.
