After their recent trip North, the Lightning368s swap compass points this coming Saturday when the fleet heads to Cookham Reach on Saturday for the 2014 Lightning368 Southern Championship.
With a big home fleet, this event traditionally sees one of the biggest entries of the year, with visiting sailors attempting to get to grips with the joys of river sailing at this beautifully set club.
With young West Oxford hotshot Alexander Baxter taking up residence at the head of the Grand Prix series calendar following a fine showing at Manor Park last time out, this event could be crucial in trying to peg the youngster back as the chance of series discards start to come into play.
Alexander has a healthy lead at the moment, meaning that second placed helm Richard Palmer really needs to make home advantage count.
Last years event was noted for its incredible heat in bright sunshine with this year promising a little less of a 'meltathon' but still set fair for a great days sailing at this wonderful venue.
First race should be around 11am, so plenty of chance for casual observers to pop down and see what Lightning368 sailing is all about.
