Over the weekend of the 14th and 15th of June, the top Northern RS Tera sailors came together. The event drew visitors from Scotland and Isle of Man, to take part in the Derwent Reservoir RS Tera Open competition.

Whilst Saturday may have been a glorious day for sunbathing, the light shifty breezes made for challenging conditions of a sort not normally associated with Derwent Reservoir.

With the racing carefully observed by the Northern coaching team led by Brett Cokayne and international sailing judge Eddie Ramsden, local sailor Peter Owen took charge of the Pro fleet with three out of four victories on the Saturday. Meanwhile, European Sport Champion, Roscoe Martin, showed his colours as the day progressed, moving gradually up the fleet. Off the water feedback was provided by the coaching team.

Sunday, whilst greyer, was at least a little windier; though again, a north easterly breeze with a number of gusts kept the race officers, and the sailors, on their toes.

Peter Owen kept his nerve, and the lead, to win the Pro fleet competition, while the Sport fleet saw Roscoe Martin narrowly beaten to first place by winner Jamie Rastrick.
