With just a week to go to the 3rd meeting in the series it's time to review placings so far and play the 'can we get more than 33 boats' game!
The two events held in the series this year have both had entries of 33 boats so the pressure is on Derwent Reservoir SC to try and beat that, but with competitors from Scotland and the Isle of Man planning to swell the normal fleet the smart money is already on even more boats on the water. There's a huge interest in the event from the Northern fleet too as Derwent Reservoir is the venue for the 2014 RS Tera National Championships so the chance to get some practice in on those waters on 14 and 15 June is an attractive proposition for many.
With welcome and generous sponsorship from LDC Sailing and Magic Marine for the overall traveller series prizes this is a great year for the RS Tera class in the North of England. The final event will be held at South Windermere SC on Saturday 12 July.
Many of the top helms in the series have just returned from the RS Tera European Championships where the Northern fleet put in a very good performance, with a number of top 10 places going to Northern helms. The Northern Squad coaching series which was such a huge success over the winter of 2013 is being re-run this year and the coaching team are looking forward to working with the squad again. Prior to this a 'Pre Nationals' training camp will be held at Derwent Reservoir SC led by Northern Squad Coach, Brett Cokayne.
