The third edition of HISC's Get Racing Club confirmed what an amazing opportunity has been created for members who are keen to experience racing for the first time and learn new skills and vital tips from the club experts in a fun and relaxed format.

The third HISC Get Racing Club event took place at the weekend with another strong turn-out of nearly 30 members keen to get on the water for a series of three short windward/leeward races. Once again a number of highly experienced HISC members gave up their time to give detailed pre, post and on-the-water mentoring to enable the Get Racing Club members to build their repertoire of racing skills and gain valuable experience in a supportive and friendly format.

This week's event concentrated on practicing start line-ups with an eclectic fleet of Lasers, RS Q'bas, RS Fevas, RS200s, RS Ventures and a Xenon taking to the water. Significant improvements were seen across the fleet by the end of the third race and prizes were handed out accordingly by the club's Marine Department.

Get Racing Club participant Alex Taylor sailing in a club RS Venture commented, "I hope to do as many Get Racing Club events as possible; they are just such an amazing opportunity and free!"

Get Racing Club founder, Melvyn Cooper noted, "I'm so delighted by the response and support of the Get Racing Club initiative from both the HISC participants and the club mentors. It's fantastic to see so many people getting involved with this new club racing initiative; sailors taking part in GRC events have met other members for the first time and sailed together in the club RS Ventures; it's become a very sociable event!"

The next Get Racing Club event will be on Saturday 21st June 2014 with the briefing at 12.00 noon and the first race as 1.00pm (please note this is earlier than the usual Get Racing Club timings due to the RS Open meeting taking place at the club that weekend). Please also note that there will be no club Ventures available for use on the 21st due to the HISC Youth Camping Weekend so members should use their own boats or the HISC hire fleet.

For more information please visit the HISC website at www.hisc.co.uk or contact Leah at to register your boat.
