The Soto 40 fleet made its debut in the famous Mediterranean Blue Coast at the 16º Semaine de Porquerolles, thanks to the intermediation of Dominique Tian, owner of Glen Ellen XXII.

The regatta is organized by the International Yacht Club d’Hyeres, recognized for being part of the ISAF World Cup Circuit, and the Yacht Club de Porquerolles. The event is taking place in the waters that surround the Porquerolles Island, a protected natural area where electric cars and bikes dominate the transport.

This was the first day of Semaine de Porquerolles. The crews were received yesterday with a 20 knots W wind but today we woke up with calm wind and it took long to start blowing. Nevertheless we were able to complete two races with a 6 knots wind.

Due to the wind laziness, the start was postponed for about two hours and the race area had to be set far away from the Island (looking for a place with more pressure and stability).

The first victory was for the Portuguese Soto 40 Bigamist, property of Pedro Mendonça and its usual skipper Afonso Domingos. The Spanish boat Noticia 4 (owned by Luis Martín Cabiedes and skippered by Pichu Torcida) concluded second position in the first race but it was the first to cross the finish line in the second race, followed by Bigamist.

The host Dominique Tian’s Glen Ellen XXII and Earlybird, owned by Hendrik Brandis and Christian Nagel, added a 3rd and 4th position each one in both races.

The rookie of this season, the Portuguese boat Uon, owned by José Manuel Caldeira, continues adjusting itself, but considering the experience of its crewmembers, it will surprise us son.

Results after Day 1: Noticia – 2/1 – 3 pts. Bigamist – 1/2 – 3 pts. Glen Ellen XXII – 4/3 – 7 pts. Earlybird – 3/4 – 7 pts. Uon – 5/5 – 10 pts.
