Class in 'Robust Health'
The 2014 Sigma 38 National Championships will see the largest entry this century. The Cowes Corinthian Yacht Club will host the class over the second May Bank Holiday. Nineteen Sigma 38s, including Christophe Declercq's Jedi from Belgium, are heading to Cowes for an action packed weekend of racing ensuring the championships are one of the largest attended UK Nationals.
Chairman Nigel Goodnew said, "I am delighted so many boats will be competing and the numbers of new owners entering their first ever National Championships is evidence the class is in robust health, going from strength to strength."
The Class Association is thrilled to thank its principal regatta sponsors - Universal Marina, an independent family run marina on the Hamble and Elvstrom UK, the British subsidiary of one of the largest sail lofts in the world. Both sponsors have enabled the class to improve the overall regatta offer to competitors and are awarding a very generous selection of prizes. In keeping with the ethos of the class both companies will be presenting prizes not only to the winner but will also recognise the achievements of those who finish lower down the rankings.
One thing the Sigma 38 Class guarantees is that no matter whether boats finish at the front or the back of the fleet the completion will be an intense, exhilarating and wonderful experience.
