RS Tera Northern Travelllers' Series 2014 - Update

The second event of the 2014 Travellers series was held at Ripon Sailing Club on 17 and 18 May, and with two of the four events now sailed the competition is hotting up nicely! Further meetings will be held at Derwent Reservoir SC (14 and 15 June) and South Windermere SC (12 July), with the overall series prizegiving being held at the end of the South Windermere event.

Over the 3 years that the series has been running the number of entrants has climbed steadily, and entrants this year are already totalling 48, with a mix of Sport and Pro boats being sailed. There are some incredibly competent and competitive young helms taking part in the events and it is great to see the competition but also the very sportsmanlike way in which the helms conduct themselves. Off the water there are some wonderful friendships developing and the social scene at each event is also a huge success – not just for the helms but for their families too.

After two events Rosco Martin (Ogston SC) leads the Sport fleet, chased by Henry Rastrick (Ripon SC) and Harrison Pye (Draycote Water SC). In the Pro fleet Alistair Scott (Ripon SC) is lying first, followed by Peter Owen (Derwent Reservoir SC) and Ana Paterson (Ripon SC).

A good number of the helms and their families are heading to Holland for the RS Tera European Championships at the end of May, then it will be time to meet up again for the 3rd leg of the travellers' series.
