Smiles and laughter rang out all weekend during the RYA 'Push the Boat Out' Initiative at Datchet Water Sailing Club over the weekend on the 17th and 18th May.
Over 100 visitors over the weekend came to try sailing and came from as far away as Chichester and Cheltenham. Visitors started coming 30 minutes before opening and were queuing as they opened. While most visitors came for a single sail, everyone who came tried several different boats and were still sailing as the day officially closed at 4pm.
The day was organised by Jon Senior, with able support from the rest of the club, with special mention for Janet Pepper and Helen Beecham for their enthusiastic running of the welcoming and registration.
Philip Tinsley, the Club Commodore, said "We were absolutely delighted with the fantastic support from our visitors and club members, it has been a tonic for us all and the icing on the cake was how many new members joined on the day. It was particularly pleasing to see so many cadets not only sailing all day in the glorious sunshine but also signing up for our half term and summer training courses."
