Light winds for the duration of the HISC Easter Open Pursuit race saw a potential fleet of over 50 boats whittled down to 36 as the tide strengthened and frequent calm patches moved over Chichester Harbour.
It was a challenging Open Pursuit race in aid of the RNLI, with the light winds producing some difficult tidal gates. However the racing for the fleet leaders was very close and it seems it was a day for the family teams. First overall were Paul and Annie Hammett in an RS200, father and son duo Russell and Freddie Peters were second in an RS200 and third were Steve and Sarah Cockerill in a Merlin Rocket.
Overall Results: (top ten)
1st RS200, Paul and Annie Hammett
2nd RS200, Russell and Freddie Peters
3rd Merlin, Steve and Sarah Cockerill
4th Solo, Ross Harvey
5th Solo, Nick Peters
6th Merlin, Judith Massey and Harry Kennedy
7th Merlin, David and Jill Hitchcock
8th Merlin, Neale Jones and Rachel Bosnia
9th Solo, Robin Gadd
10th RS400, James and Ann Gardner
The Youth Pursuit race was won by Henry Jameson in an RS Tera Pro with his brother Rupert Jameson coming 2nd in an RS Tera Sport and Isobel Clark and Robin Golding coming 3rd in an RS Feva XL.
