As part of the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters, 12th to 20th April 2014, in collaboration with the ATP, world number one and eight-time champion of the Monaco tournament, Rafael Nadal, was invited to sail on the 1909 gaff cutter Tuiga by Bernard d'Alessandri, Secretary General of the Yacht Club de Monaco.
A keen sailor, the Spanish ace dressed all in white was given the honour of helming this magnificent International 15 Metre Class racing yacht.
"I spent a wonderful afternoon. It was a unique experience. I come from an island, so anything to do with the sea, especially sailing, has a special significance for me. I really appreciated this outing and would like to thank all the crew on Tuiga who were very kind. The way they work together to get the boat moving is impressive. Everyone working towards the same goal. It's beautiful," said the prodigy from Manacor who also had the opportunity to see round the YCM's new building, designed by Lord Foster and due to be inaugurated on 20th June 2014.
