Gazprom International Dragon European Championship - Day 2

by Imagina 26 Mar 2014 15:11 GMT 24-29 March 2014

High winds put a stop to racing today

A strong easterly wind of 30 knots blowing off Sanremo from the early hours of this morning put a stop to racing today at the Gazprom International Dragon European Championship, which kicked off yesterday under the organisation of the Yacht Club Sanremo.

The Race Committee went out to sea several times to check the weather conditions. In the early afternoon the wind turned to the north but remained very intense and unstable in direction. The Race Committee eventually decided to instruct the 84 teams competing to stay ashore today.

The racing will resume tomorrow and will continue until Saturday March 29.
