Where are all the Hornets now?

The new season is almost upon us, and the RYA Suzuki Dinghy Show is around the corner. Normally at this time the RYA Hornet Association will have at least 3 or 4 'pre-loved' boats available to pass on to new owners, but there is currently a real shortage. So this is an appeal to all existing owners considering replacing their boat to make contact with the association so we can list it for free on the class website, www.hornet.org.uk , and we will put it up there. If you can prepare an advert quickly enough, bring some copies along to our stand (C42 – Great Hall) at the show, and we will be pleased to pass the details on to interested parties.

If you are hanging on to your boat, please come and see us for a chat and make sure we can add/update the details on the class data base. If you cannot be there in person, please contact Tom Guy via his email: .

There will be a number of expert enthusiasts on the stand along with a regular front running example of the class. We will also accept your class membership fees and entries to this year's European Championship, to be held under the flag of the Royal Torbay YC, August 16-19 2014.

We have a full season of racing ahead of us this year, with our 2014 venues at:

  • Carsington S C - April 26/27
  • Stone S C - May 17/18
  • Topsham S C (Exe Regatta) - June 21/22
  • Port Dinorwic S C - July 12/13
And further events pending.

Note that all fully paid entries for the Europeans received by the 27th April will be eligible for a free raffle for sails that have been kindly donated as follows:

  • A Genoa by McNamara Sails
  • A Spinnaker by Ullman Sails
  • A Mainsail by Exe Sails
The draw will be held after the racing at Carsington.
