Today the fleet completed the Calbuco – Puerto Montt race, 8th challenge of the 2014 VTR Chiloé race, in which the Class proved its high level of competition and Yali achieved its first victory. On the penultimate day of competition, Pisco Sour keeps the leadership of the fleet.
The boats started on time, with SE wind knots of 4 knots. Horacio Pavez's Mitsubishi, Ramón Eluchans' Yali and Per Von Appen's Entel started in the first positions, and kept them until half of the course. Then Yali took the lead and crossed the finish line in the first place, followed by Bernardo Matte's Pisco Sour and Mitsubishi.
At the end of the sailing that took the boats back to Puerto Montt, the Race Committee set a windward – leeward course in the Puerto Montt bay, which started near 6 pm but had to be annulled later due to lack of wind.
With these results, Pisco Sour keeps leading with 30 points, followed by Jaime Charad's Apolonia, which is occupying the second position of the Overall. In the third place is Mitsubishi (39 points) and in the fourth Patagonia (40 points).
The 2014 VTR Chiloé race will come to its end tomorrow with the last windward – leeward courses that will be set in the Puerto Montt bay from 12 pm.
